Your Physiotherapy assessment may include analysis of posture, gait, and balance, joint range of motion, functional movement patterns, muscle strength, as well as neurological function.
Once your assessment is complete your Physiotherapists will review the results with you, review how your body works, and what is keeping it from moving well, and then prescribe a personalized therapeutic exercise program to reduce your pain, restore your mobility, and promote your independence.
Depending on your condition, your treatment may also include mobilization, manual therapy, modalities to reduce pain, acupuncture, or corrective orthotics in addition to your home rehabilitation program.
By combining the principles of evidence-informed practice, assessment skills, clinical and professional judgment, your physiotherapist will work closely with you, and often with other health care professionals, to ensure that your health goals are met.

An orthotic is a type of splint that is placed in your shoe to correct how your foot moves. Correcting any abnormal walking or running pattern that you may have allows you to stand, walk, and run more efficiently, and comfortably.
Orthotics fall into three categories; Semi-Rigid, Soft, and Rigid. Each type has its’ own specific advantages and disadvantages. By far the most common type of orthotic prescribed is the semi-rigid type as it strikes the best overall balance between controlling abnormal motion in the foot while still allowing it to move and adapt to the surfaces you are walking on

I got my start in the orthotic industry as the Western Canadian Manager for Footmaxx; where I had the pleasure of training new clinicians and their staff how to use the Footmaxx system to treat their patients. I then found my true passion in working directly with my own clients. I have over 15 years’ experience in the orthotic industry to ensure my clients receive the best possible solutions for their foot and leg complaints. More recently I have completed the training with Theralase to be certified in Cold Laser Treatment. I’m a mother of 2 lovely daughters and grandmother to 4 wonderful grandchildren. In my free time, you will find me in my kayak in the lake, Trikking on the E&N or Travelling to another destination on my bucket list.
